Strawberry Shortcake1 1/2 quarts fresh strawberries 2 cups all-purpose flour 3/4 cup sugar 3 teaspoons baking powder 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1 stick butter 1 cup milk 2 eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla extract whipped cream In a large mixing bowl whisk together, flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and baking soda. Cut in butter until like coarse crumbs. Add milk, eggs and vanilla and stir with a spoon until all ingredients are wet. Grease a round 9 inch cake pan or 9 x 9 inch square pan. Pour batter into baking dish and bake in preheated 375 degree oven 25 to 30 minutes. Let cool about 10 minutes. Remove from pan to a plate. You can slice individual pieces in half and add strawberries. I like to top with additional strawberries!
